Gnanagiri Balasubramanian

Gnanagiri Balasubramanian is an internationally experienced expert at the intersection of Functional Safety, Automotive Cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance under UN R155/CSMS — with a strong focus on transforming safety and security organizations within the automotive industry.

As a certified CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), he combines deep expertise in security architecture with a comprehensive understanding of the safety-critical requirements of modern vehicle development — from the early concept phase through TARA-based threat modeling to type approval and post-market monitoring within the CSMS lifecycle.

In his role as Safety Officer and strategic advisor, he is responsible for developing and implementing company-wide safety and security strategies that meet the requirements of OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers in an increasingly connected and regulated vehicle environment. In this capacity, he serves as a trusted sparring partner for decision-makers in engineering, compliance, and product responsibility at the executive level.

A key focus of his work is the lead management of complex automotive projects at internationally leading OEMs — with direct responsibility for safety-critical systems that must meet the highest standards of ASIL classification, cybersecurity maturity, and regulatory conformance.

What further distinguishes Gnanagiri Balasubramanian is his proven ability to approach Safety and Security Engineering not as parallel silos, but as an integrated discipline — a competency of growing strategic importance in the era of connected, automated, and electric vehicles.

He also brings a particular strength as a cultural and organizational bridge between Europe and India: drawing on firsthand experience in both professional environments, he understands the structured processes, high quality standards, and regulatory expectations of European markets just as well as the agility, flexibility, and engineering depth of Indian development centers and engineering service providers. This makes him an especially valuable partner for internationally positioned automotive organizations with development activities on both continents.
